Breaking news: Capri and Procida on the Amalfi Coast are declared COVID free.

A recent announcement declares both Capri and its neighbouring island Procida in the Bay of Naples, COVID free.

The islands, situated off the popular and dramatic Amalfi Coast are welcoming visitors to their shores once again – a safe haven for superyacht guests and crew.

Procida, Italy’s best-kept secret, is best known as the island between Ischia and Capri, but in January it made history for being the first island to be named Italy’s Capital of Culture, for 2022. Capri is famous for its many natural coves, rugged beauty, electric blue grottoes, delicious cuisine and world-class shopping; a place to see and be seen.

Capri and Procida’s adult residents and hospitality workers have been completely vaccinated and the vaccine campaign on Ischia is almost complete so you do not need to take a Covid test to embark on the ferry for Capri, Ischia, or Procida. Visitors are already arriving on the islands and along the Amalfi coastline, to enjoy the scenic beauty before the height of Summer brings its many visitors.

For those that want to venture on shore, restaurants and cafes are fully open, the 11pm curfew has been extended to midnight, and will be lifted completely on June 21st. Most hotels and shops, and all  museums, and other cultural sites are open; tickets must be booked online at least 24 hours in advance.

To embark on a domestic flight, some airlines are requiring a negative Covid test, but you do not need to take a Covid test to disembark from the ferry for Capri, Ischia, or Procida. Rules for entering Italy from abroad still apply; EU citizens and residents of the EU, UK, and Israel will be allowed to enter for leisure if they meet one of the following conditions:

  • Certification that fully vaccinated against Covid19
  • Negative Covid-19 test (antigen or molecular) taken 48 hours before departure
  • Certification of having recovered from a Covid-19 infection within the last six months

When it comes to your return trip, all hotels in Capri and Anacapri are offering a Covid-19 test service directly inside the hotel and there are also local clinics and labs that offer the test. Results are guaranteed within 48 hours.

Continued caution is advised so masks will still be required indoors and outdoors in crowded spaces where social distancing is impossible. Tourism service providers are offering more open-air options, private tours, and small-group activities and car and boat services have put thorough sanitation practices in place.
