day 1 - Tavolara
Embark in Olbia and settle aboard before a short cruise south-east towards the Tavolara–Punta Coda Cavallo Marine Protected Area. The island’s pale limestone wall rises sharply from the sea, making Spalmatore di Terra an unmistakable first anchorage. Begin with a swim in clear, sheltered water, then take the tender ashore for a simple seafood lunch when conditions and opening dates allow. The afternoon is deliberately light: unpack, meet the crew and watch the light move across Molara before dinner on deck. Navigation and anchoring follow the reserve’s zoning rules.
day 2 - Cala di Volpe
Leave Tavolara after breakfast and run north along the Gallura coast towards Cala di Volpe. The bay is broad, protected and closely associated with the Costa Smeralda’s low-rise architecture. Anchor for a late-morning swim near the sandy curve of Liscia Ruja or choose a tender transfer to the waterfront, subject to local access arrangements. Lunch can be taken aboard with the bay in view, followed by time ashore for a hotel terrace reservation arranged in advance. Return to the yacht for sunset, when day boats thin out and the anchorage becomes quieter.
day 3 - Golfo Pevero
This is a short repositioning day, designed around time in the water rather than miles under way. Cruise from Cala di Volpe to Golfo Pevero and anchor off Grande Pevero, where pale sand sits below low Mediterranean scrub and the hills of the Pevero Golf Club. Spend the morning paddleboarding or swimming before the main beach becomes busy. After lunch on board, move between Grande and Piccolo Pevero by tender if sea conditions permit. The evening can remain at anchor, or the captain may seek a more protected berth according to wind and swell.
day 4 - Porto Cervo
Arrive early enough to make the most of Porto Cervo rather than treating it as a late-night stop. Berth at the marina when reserved, then walk towards the Piazzetta and the lanes designed in the Costa Smeralda’s distinctive stone-and-stucco style. A visit to Stella Maris church gives a quieter counterpoint to the boutiques and waterfront. Lunch may be ashore, while the afternoon is free for spa time, shopping or a tender run to nearby Cala Granu. Dress for dinner and let the broker secure the table; August availability is rarely solved at the last minute.
day 5 - Poltu Quatu
Only a few kilometres by road and a brief coastal hop by yacht separate Porto Cervo from Poltu Quatu, yet the setting feels markedly different. The marina lies deep inside a narrow inlet, screened by granite and maquis, with a direct outlook towards Caprera. Use the slower morning for breakfast on deck and a swim off Baia Sardinia en route. Once moored, lunch ashore can be followed by a walk around the harbour or a diving excursion arranged locally. day 6 - Caprera
Set out after an early coffee to reach Caprera before the busiest excursion boats. Cala Coticcio, sometimes compared to a natural granite amphitheatre, rewards a carefully timed swim stop, but access and anchoring are regulated within the national park and the captain must follow current rules. Later, move to a suitable anchorage and go ashore for the Compendio Garibaldino, the house and grounds where Giuseppe Garibaldi spent his final years. Lunch can be served aboard between the two visits. The day closes quietly, with dinner under Caprera’s dark, largely undeveloped shoreline.
day 7 - La Maddalena
A short passage brings the yacht to La Maddalena, the archipelago’s principal town and the best stop for a full evening ashore. Begin with a swim off one of the island’s accessible coves, then enter Cala Gavetta or use an alternative berth selected by the captain. Piazza Umberto I and the surrounding streets are compact enough for an unhurried afternoon walk, with cafés, food shops and views back towards Palau. Return aboard for aperitifs, or reserve dinner in town. Unlike the previous day’s protected coves, today’s rhythm centres on harbour life and local provisions.
day 8 - Budelli
Cruise north-west through the archipelago towards Budelli, with the route and stopping points governed by national park regulations. Spiaggia Rosa is a protected site: present it as a view, not a beach landing, swimming stop or anchorage. The day’s water time is better planned in an authorised area around the Manto della Madonna, the luminous channel between Budelli, Razzoli and Santa Maria. Enjoy lunch at anchor, then use the tender only where permitted. With no town agenda, the afternoon belongs to snorkelling, reading and a long sunset dinner, adjusted to the captain’s chosen overnight shelter.
day 9 - Cavallo
Cross the Strait of Bonifacio into French waters, allowing the captain to time the passage around wind and sea state. Cavallo lies between Sardinia and Corsica in the Lavezzi archipelago, its low granite coast broken by small coves and pale beaches. The island is private in character and shore access can be restricted, so the best experience may remain yacht-based: a morning swim in an authorised anchorage, lunch on deck and a tender exploration that respects local rules. By late afternoon, settle into a sheltered position or continue towards the Bonifacio approaches if conditions favour an earlier move.
day 10 - Bonifacio
The final approach is one of the route’s strongest arrivals. Bonifacio’s harbour cuts into the limestone coast beneath a citadel set high above the water. After a last swim near the Lavezzi or along the permitted Corsican coast, enter the marina and go ashore for the climb to the old town. Walk the ramparts, look across the strait towards Sardinia and, time permitting, see the top of the Escalier du Roy d’Aragon. Lunch or an early dinner can be arranged around disembarkation plans. The charter ends in Bonifacio, with onward transfers coordinated by your broker.

July is excellent for a livelier Costa Smeralda atmosphere and beach-club programme. Motor yachts suit guests who want shorter passage times, more flexibility around restaurant reservations and easy one-way logistics.
