Anchor beneath the Faraglioni, swim in the Blue Grotto's light, and dine ashore where la dolce vita was invented.
Why Charter a Yacht IN CAPRI
Three square miles of limestone and legend, best approached the way emperors did, from the sea
WHY CAPRI IS ONE OF THE MEDITERRANEAN'S MOST REQUESTED CHARTER DESTINATIONS
A yacht charter Capri experience solves the island’s one great problem: everyone wants to be here, and only those arriving by sea do it on their own terms. While day-trippers queue for the funicular from Marina Grande, charter guests swim off the stern at Marina Piccola before breakfast. The season runs May to early October; for July and August, and for Rolex Capri Sailing Week in mid-May, we advise booking six to nine months ahead.
Capri sits in the Gulf of Naples, roughly 17 nautical miles from Naples and barely 3 from Punta Campanella at the tip of the Sorrentine Peninsula which makes it the natural hub of one of the Tyrrhenian Sea’s finest cruising grounds. In a single day you can round the Faraglioni, lunch at anchor off Nerano, and continue past the Li Galli islets towards Positano. Ischia and Procida lie within an easy morning’s cruise to the north-west.
West Coast International maintains a hand-picked selection of crewed yachts based in Campania each summer, from 24-metre day cruisers to 60-metre-plus superyachts. Our brokers secure what money alone cannot: a mooring buoy off La Fontelina in August, a table at Il Riccio without a six-week wait, a berth in Marina Grande at the height of the season. To begin, charter a yacht with a broker who has anchored here personally.

Best Time To Visit:
The best time to visit Capri by yacht is late May to early July, and again in September, when the water holds 24–26°C and the Piazzetta empties of day-trippers by dusk. Mid-May brings Rolex Capri Sailing Week and the Regata dei Tre Golfi, run from Naples since 1954, a spectacular week to be at anchor, but berths vanish early. August is glamorous, crowded and priced accordingly.
Key Cruising Areas: Marina Grande on the north coast is the island’s principal harbour and embarkation point, sheltered from the prevailing south-westerly libeccio. Marina Piccola, on the south side, offers calm swimming anchorages beneath the Faraglioni when northerlies blow. The classic circumnavigation of the island covers about 9 nautical miles, threading between the Faraglioni stacks and past the Grotta Verde. Crossings to Nerano, Positano and the wider Amalfi Coast take under two hours.
Don’t Miss:
Enter the Blue Grotto by rowing boat from your tender early, before 9am, when the light inside is at its most electric. Swim through the arch of the Faraglioni di Mezzo, local tradition says a kiss beneath it brings luck. Take the chairlift from Anacapri up Monte Solaro for a 589-metre view over the entire Gulf of Naples. Walk the Roman ruins of Villa Jovis, Emperor Tiberius’s clifftop palace, reached by tender to the island’s eastern point.
Best Spots for Wining and Dining:
La Fontelina, at the foot of the Faraglioni, serves its legendary white-peach sangria on rocks reached only by boat or footpath. Il Riccio, above the Blue Grotto in Anacapri, holds a Michelin star and a dessert room stacked with pastries. L’Olivo at the Capri Palace carries two Michelin stars for chef Andrea Migliaccio’s Mediterranean tasting menus. Da Paolino seats guests beneath a canopy of lemon trees in Marina Grande. Across the water, Lo Scoglio in Nerano plates the definitive spaghetti alla Nerano on a pier over the bay.

After two nights around Capri and Anacapri, cruise north-west to Ischia’s thermal gardens and the pastel harbour of Procida, then sweep east along the Amalfi Coast. YOUR NEXT VACATION IS IN CAPRI
MEMORIES TO LAST A LIFETIME
There is a particular hour on a Capri charter, around seven in the evening, when the last hydrofoil has left for Naples, when the island exhales. The crew sets the table on the aft deck, the Faraglioni turn copper, and the only sound is water against the hull. This is the private day cruise most guests remember years later: not the itinerary, but the stillness the crowds never see.

Frequently Asked Questions About Yacht Charter in Capri
Late May to early July and September offer the best balance of warm seas, open restaurant terraces and manageable crowds. Rolex Capri Sailing Week in mid-May is a highlight for regatta lovers. August delivers peak glamour and peak prices; October remains pleasant for sailing but ferries and beach clubs begin winding down.
Marina Grande is Capri’s main port, with Marina Piccola as the southern anchorage. Within a day’s cruise you reach Nerano, Positano, Amalfi and the Li Galli islands to the east, and Ischia, Procida and Naples to the north. Many guests combine Capri with our 7 day Amalfi Coast Itinerary
Motor yachts dominate the Gulf of Naples fleet for their speed between anchorages, but elegant sailing yachts and modern catamarans are also available. Sizes run from 20-metre day cruisers to superyachts above 60 metres. All West Coast charters are fully crewed; bareboat rental is not part of our luxury offering.
The Charter Fee includes the exclusive use of the yacht, the services of the professional crew, crew wages and meals, yacht insurance, ship’s linen laundry, and all standard onboard equipment in working order. Operating expenses such as fuel, guest food and beverages, marina fees, local taxes, communications, and other charter-related expenses are not included and are covered through the Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), together with any applicable VAT and delivery/redelivery fees.
One week is the standard minimum in July and August. Outside peak season, many owners accept charters of four to five days, and day charters from Naples, Sorrento or Capri itself are available year-round on selected yachts. For a proper loop including the Amalfi Coast and Ischia, we recommend seven days or more.
Naples Capodichino (NAP) is the gateway, about 40 minutes by car from the port of Naples, from where your yacht or a private transfer crosses the 17 nautical miles to Capri in under an hour. Helicopter transfers from Naples to the island take roughly 15 minutes. Most embarkations take place at Mergellina, Castellammare di Stabia or directly in Marina Grande.
Yes, but not in your own tender: entry to the Blue Grotto is only permitted aboard the licensed local rowing boats, which meet you at the grotto mouth. Your captain will anchor nearby and time the visit for early morning, when seas are calmest and the queue shortest. The cave closes in rough weather or high swell.
Yes. The waters between Capri and the Sorrentine Peninsula fall within the Punta Campanella Marine Protected Area, where anchoring, speed and access are regulated by zone. Your crew handles permits and compliant anchorages. Nearby, the Li Galli islets and stretches of the Ieranto bay near Nerano carry similar protections worth planning around.
For July, August or Sailing Week in May, book six to nine months ahead, the best yachts and the limited buoys off the island go first. For June or September, three to four months usually suffices. Last-minute availability exists but rarely includes prime berths at Marina Grande or tables at the island’s starred restaurants.
